Welcome to
Nassau
Great Inagua
The Original Caribbean Destination
Experience an island metropolis where the ease of the tropics meets the big city. Here, beautiful beaches are just the beginning. Venture beyond them and discover an island humming with history, art, nightlife, and culture.
The Highlights

Christ Church Cathedral
The striking Gothic Cathedral, constructed with local limestone in 1841, stands on the same site as the first church built in The Bahamas in 1670. Inside, light filters through stunning stained glass windows and plaques along the church walls commemorate beloved Bahamians.

The Queen’s 66 Steps
Carved out of solid limestone in 1794, the Queen’s Staircase provided a direct path from Fort Fincastle to central Nassau. Towering walls draped in tropical plants and a waterfall create a serene oasis minutes from the bustle of Downtown.

The Retreat Gardens
This 11-acre property is the headquarters of The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) and houses one of the largest private collections of rare and exotic palms in the world — approximately 170 species. It’s one of four national parks on New Providence Island.

Pompey Museum
Formerly called Vendue House, the building is now named for the courageous slave, Pompey, who hailed from The Exumas. Built sometime before 1769, it became a museum in 1992 and features a permanent exhibit on the African experience in The Bahamas.

Bay Street Sights
Downtown Nassau’s main street (and The Bahamas’ oldest thoroughfare), Bay Street is lined with pastel-coloured buildings. Highlights include historic Parliament Square and the open-air Straw market, where artisans craft one-of-a-kind souvenirs.

The Fish Fry
Travellers looking for a quintessential Bahamian dining experience head to Fish Fry on Arawak Cay. The lively strip starts with casual sit-down restaurants and ends beachside, where beach shack barbecues serve up a whole new vibe.
Travel planning works best when it starts with a conversation rather than a generic package. Boots to Beaches Travel gathers trip details upfront, including travel dates, budget range, and group size, then researches specific options before anything is booked, so decisions are made with full pricing and itinerary information in hand.
The Great Inagua Lighthouse
This functioning, all-white lighthouse in Matthew Town dates back to 1870. On a clear day, a climb to the top reveals panoramic views of Inagua and Cuba to the southwest.
